Group Volunteer

We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers who are willing to give 2-3 hours of their time per week to help us out at one of our groups. We are currently looking for volunteers at our Penarth singing group, Barry singing group, and Barry exercise group. Times and locations can be found here.

The volunteer role is varied, and involves assisting a group organiser and the musical director in the smooth running of the group. It also involves assisting group members with their needs, including:

  • Chatting and conversation
  • General mobility
  • Answering questions and disseminating information
  • Taking part in activities
  • Serving hot drinks, cakes and biscuits.

Please note that this role will not include any toileting/personal care, manual handling, cooking, or handling money.

No experience or qualifications are needed for this position, and you don't even need to be able to sing!

Welsh translator

We are looking for a confident and accurate Welsh translator who is willing to give some of their time ad hoc to translate a few sentences for our website and social media. The work can be done from home, via email, so the applicant would need to have access to a computer and internet.

IT Support

We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and confident in using computers and software including Microsoft Office, and who is willing to give some of their time ad hoc to help us out when issues arise. This may require coming in to Y Galon in Cowbridge occasionally if needed, but wherever possible this could be done from home.

Y Galon Meet and Greet Volunteer

We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers who are willing to give 2-3 hours of their time per week to help us out at the Y Galon community hub in Cowbridge. Volunteers will assist paid members of staff to support people from the local community, people who have dementia and their carers who drop into Y Galon.

The volunteer role is varied, and activities include:

  • Meeting and greeting people who come to Y Galon
  • Offering friendship, conversation and support to individuals at our drop-in sessions
  • Answering questions and disseminating information
  • Taking part in activities such as board games and jigsaws
  • Supporting people with their mobility, as needed
  • Serving hot drinks, cakes and biscuits.

Please note that this role will not include any toileting/personal care, manual handling, cooking, or handling money.

No experience or qualifications are needed for this position.
