Open Position — Group Volunteer

We are looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer for who is willing to give 3+ hours of their time per week to help us out at one of our singing and social groups. This could be at any of our singing groups in Penarth, Barry, Llantwit Major, or Cowbridge. Please see the rest of our website for further information on times and locations for each group.

The volunteer role is varied, and involves assisting a group organiser and the musical director in the smooth running of the group. It also involves assisting group members with their needs, including:

  • Chatting and conversation
  • General mobility
  • Answering questions and disseminating information
  • Taking part in activities
  • Serving hot drinks and cold food
  • Some basic administration tasks, eg. photocopying, putting together activities, taking basic notes.

Please note that this role will not include any toileting/personal care, manual handling, cooking, or handling money.

No experience or qualifications are needed for this position, and you don't even need to be able to sing! Please see the person specification below for more information about the type of person we are looking for.

Person Specification:

  • Reliable and punctual, willing to commit to weekly groups
  • Able to chat confidently with older people, without being patronising
  • Positive and friendly attitude
  • Empathetic and caring personality
  • Awareness of older people and some of the issues they may face
  • Able to ask for help when needed

Open Position — Welsh translator

We are looking for a confident and accurate Welsh translator who is willing to give a few hours a month of their time to translate a few sentences for our website and social media. The work can be done from home, via email, so the applicant would need to have access to a computer and internet.

Person Specification:

  • A Welsh Language qualification GCSE or above.
  • Reliable and able to meet deadlines
